The Crosslocke world is parallel to the world of Pokémon; while the monster species still exist as local flora and fauna, the human equivalent of Crosslocke is a gijinka setting of people of different Pokémon species! As such, the Pokémon League has competitors of gijinkas instead of Pokémon for this AU.
Because of the multiverse theory (most discussed in the Delta Episode and Alolan games), it's implied other Pokémon alternative universes exist, such as worlds where people live without the traits or powers of Pokémon common ancestors, or no humanoids exist at all and instead have the Pokémon be the dominant intelligent species. Contact with other worlds is few and far between, but usually result in catastrophy.
Therians
Therians (Japanese: 獣人 Jujin, Vietnamese: 兽人 Thú Nhân) are the human-equivalent species in Crosslocke, the term loosely meaning "beast man" and from therianthropy and "official term" for gijinkas in Crosslocke. Therians are humanoid people with features of Pokémon because of their lineage sharing a common ancestor, alongside theorized supernatural and mythological feats in ancient stories. While common traits are traits like ears or tails akin to pop culture depiction of kemonomimi, therians can also have less humanoid features like centaur bodies, wings in the place of arms, insectoid appendages, and so on, especially for those with more unnatural powers.
Aura
Aura is a strange phenomenon best compared to the real-world concepts of chi and animism. Everything, from living organisms to objects, host aura as much as being made up of physical matter. While aura is typically converted and expelled in ways like standard attacks, aura itself is the core energy in existence, and can be directly controlled to perform great feats. With being a metaphysical power and form of energy, it is also connected to intangible things such as emotions and souls, and thus overlap with (and most often being confused for) Psychic or Ghost-specific powers.
It is possible to learn how to cultivate one's attunement and mastery of influencing aura, however, despite everyone and everything having the potential to utilize such powers, very few people come to realize and awaken such prowress... Even with modern utilizations of Aura manipulation like Mega Evolution, Z-Moves, or Gigantamaxing, public acknowledgement of animism is near-extinct, ironically as a result of modern technology and society's overreliance and faith placed in machinery over mankind.
In the past, there were people called Aura Guardians who traveled afar and helped many with their abilities, traveling shamans never tied to a particular society as they were mediators of the supernatural and tangible world. Due to skepticism of such "superstition" over the years though, Aura Guardians became a lost culture with little to no living Guardians or disciples being taught the arts today; as such, the culture and animist knowledge of Aura have been lost to time.
